Nicolo Barella released a statement moments after having officially signed his contract extension with Inter which will see him tied to the Nerazzurri until the end of June 2026.

The Italian international midfielder released a video via Inter’s official Twitter account below expressing his delight at having extended his contract with the reigning Serie A champions.

“Hi everybody, I’m happy to have extended my contract and to continue fighting for these colors. Sending my best wishes to everybody. Forza Inter.”

Nicolo Barella joined Inter from Cagliari for what was then a club record transfer reportedly worth around €50 million in the summer of 2019.

The record was broken a few weeks later when Romelu Lukaku completed his move to Inter from Manchester United in a deal worth around €70 million reportedly.

Since then Barella has featured 108 times across all competitions for the Nerazzurri scoring 8 goals in the process and was an integral part of Antonio Conte’s side who won the Serie A title last season.

Barella has also featured 33 times for the Italian national team scoring 7 times, one of which came in the quarterfinals of the European Championships against Belgium, en route to winning the tournament last summer.
