Inter are firmly aiming to keep midfielder Marcelo Brozovic beyond next summer despite the interest of Barcelona among other clubs.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, who report that the player also wants to stay at the club although an agreement on a renewal has yet to be found and there is significant interest in his signature.

Brozovic’s current deal with the Nerazzurri is set to expire at the end of June 2022, and no agreement has been found on an extension despite some early attempts having been made.

The Croat is happy at Inter but the distance between player and club on salary demands in particular remains and no agreement has been secured.

Should he be unable to find an agreement on a renewal with his current club, there would be no lack of suitors to tempt the 28-year-old away, and Barcelona are among the clubs with a firm interest in signing him next summer.
