The San Siro is set to host around 57,000 fans for this evening’s derby between Inter and AC Milan, with the stadium not able to accommodate full capacity yet but tickets sold out as much as possible.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri will face off in front of a full 75% capacity crowd as allowed by current Italian regulations.

The last time the two Milan sides faced off in front of fans was the February 9 2020 edition of the derby, only around a month before a global health emergency was declared for the COVID-19 pandemic which quickly caused football to be played in front of empty stadiums.

On that occasions, Inter came back to win 4-2 against the Rossoneri in a particularly dramatic instalment of one of Italian football’s showpiece occasions.

Now fans are back in stadiums and, after having been forced to play out the derby in front of only television cameras last campaign, the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri will be able to play in front of supporters once again.

The restrictions have not fully lifted on fans in stadiums, but the amount is now 75% capacity, so the two sides will be able to play in front of 57,000 out of the 76,000 seats at the San Siro filled.
