Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri believes that the Nerazzuri create enough chances to win Sunday evening’s derby against AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, Ferri gave the view that the Nerazzurri’s performance was good enough for three points even though a number of spurned chances to score a winner saw them have to settle for a point.

Inter took the game to their city rivals for long periods of yesterday’s derby match, playing proactively and dominating possessions as they regularly created threatening situations and managed a number of attempts on goal.

In the end, this was not enough to see them take the result they wanted, as they passed up a number of good chances, not least Lautaro Martinez’s penalty that was saved by Ciprian Tatarusanu, and were not able to eat into the seven-point gap that the Rossoneri and Napoli have over them in the table.

Ferri stated that “Milan and Inter are two teams who are always trying to play their game: lots of opportunities and lots of intensity. We forget about the match in the Coppa. Nice derby, with duels and a good back-and-forth. It couldn’t have been better than that.”

He went on that “Regrets remain, because Inter could win for what they created.”

On the missed penalty he stated that “There are 2-3 designated players, then at the moment it is decided.”

Lastly, of Hakan Calhanoglu’s celebration against his former team he stated that “I don’t want to be moralistic but he could have avoided that gesture.”
