Former Bologna defender Daniele Daino believes that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez benefits a lot from his partnership with Edin Dzeko.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, the former defender spoke about the relationship of Martinez and Dzeko on the pitch, and also gave the view that the Argentine should be able to get back to scoring regularly soon.

Martinez developed a strong partnership with Romelu Lukaku over the past two seasons, but with the Belgian’s departure in the summer he got a new strike partner in the form of Dzeko.

The Bosnian has made a positive impact since his arrival from Roma, both in terms of his goal return and in terms of his contributions to the team and how he helps his teammates.

Daino highlighted the significance of the 35-year-old’s contributions to Martinez in particular, and suggested that the Argentine’s game is improved by playing alongside the former Giallorossi striker.

“I think a player like him is lucky to play with someone like Dzeko,” he stated. “The problem is not the Bosnian, who can only help Lautaro.”

He went on that “In the last few performances the problem is not that he does ‘t get close to scoring. Due to a bit of bad luck or indecision now he is not as prolific as he used to be.”

“But with his qualities and the way Inter play he will get back to scoring,” he concluded. “Dzeko is a good partner for a striker as fast as him.”
