Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal has told the club that he did not suffer a serious injury during Chile’s match against Paraguay on Thursday night, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by Sky Sport, via FCInternews, Arturo Vidal asked to be substituted in the 84th minute of Chile’s 1-0 win over Paraguay on Thursday night.

Eduardo Vargas came on in his place. Inter heavily feared a muscle issue for the 35-year-old that could potentially have put him out of contention for a very important part of the season.

Reports suggest though that his substitution was merely a precautionary measure and he has not picked up a genuine injury. It is expected that he will feature heavily in Chile’s next World Cup qualifier during this international break.

The win over Paraguay was crucial to Chile’s World Cup qualification hopes as they were sitting three points away from the final CONMEBOL qualification space.
