Former Inter winger Alessandro Bianchi has admitted that he was worried about the club in the summer when two key players and the coach left, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Alessandro Bianchi explained that the departures of Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, and the coach Antonio Conte left him concerned about the future.

He added though, that the signings the club then made to build a competitive squad for Simone Inzaghi put his mind at ease ahead of the new campaign.

“When Conte, Lukaku and Hakimi left I was worried, then I saw how good the club was to replace every piece and to deliver a really competitive team to Inzaghi to look for another championship. I expect a lot from Lautaro, this must be his match.”

Speaking specifically about the match on November 21 against Napoli, Alessandro Bianchi explained that Inter must win otherwise their chances of winning the Scudetto become very complicated.

“The championship is still long but it is clear that if Inter do not beat Napoli it becomes very complicated to shorten the distances in the standings.

“It will be a balanced match but Inter have everything to be able to aim for victory, not only in the match but in the championship.”

There will be a 10 point gap between the two teams if Napoli come away as winners.

Alessandro Bianchi also discussed a match he played in 1989 against Napoli that led to Inter winning the Scudetto.

“It was the right reward for an extraordinary season: that record-breaking Inter Milan side deserved to celebrate the title at San Siro against their rival for the title. It was truly an extraordinary day.”
