Former Italy player Marco Tardelli has claimed that Nicolo Barella is one of the best Mezzale in Europe right now, according to a report in the Italian media.

Whilst writing for La Gazzetta dello Sport, Marco Tardelli explained that Nicolo Barella has now surpassed the description of one of Italy’s best midfielders. He is now one of the best on the entire continent.

“Not only one of the best Italian mezzale, but in Europe. His rhythm gives courage to his teammates and scares his opponents.”

He also feels that Nicolo Barella has all the midfield qualities necessary to help the Italian national team get a win over Switzerland in their World Cup qualifier on Friday evening.

“I don’t think this challenge against Switzerland will be so technical, we will need other qualities and Barella has them all.”

Marco Tardelli also referenced the fact that the 24-year-old is from Sardinia which means he has the best sort of stubbornness that a footballer can have.

“I have never had any doubts about his recovery. He is Sardinian, stubborn in the best sense of the word. Difficult to knock him down, like when he takes the ball and goes.”

Nicolo Barella very recently signed a new contract at Inter that will keep with the Nerazzurri until at least 2026. His salary now reflects his growing importance to the team and the club.
