Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has said that former Inter boss Antonio Conte has not spoken to him about the prospect of joining Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report in the Dutch broadcast media today.
Whilst speaking to Dutch media outlet Ziggo Sport, via FCInternews, Stefan de Vrij immediately claimed that he knows nothing about the rumours linking him to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
“I deny these rumours, I don’t know anything about anything.”
The defender then admitted that the connection people have made is understandable as his old coach is now there, but emphasised that Antonio Conte has not contacted him about a move.
“The connection is easy because the coach I worked with at Inter is now there, but I don’t know anything. Antonio Conte hasn’t contacted me about this. I’m focused on the national team, now this is my priority.”
Stefan de Vrij was a vital part of the Inter squad under Antonio Conte as the team won the 2020/21 Serie A title and he has remained a key component of the team under new boss Simone Inzaghi.
Antonio Conte recently became the new boss of Tottenham Hotspur which has led to multiple links with Inter players.
