Inter forward Alexis Sanchez has praised his national team for their important win over Paraguay in a World Cup qualifier, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking to the press after the match against Paraguay on Thursday night, via FCInter1908, Alexis Sanchez explained that the commitment that the team showed is what made the 1-0 victory possible.

The Chilean said: “Today we won because of the commitment put in by our teammates, because everyone knows that it is difficult to play here, because of the pitch and the players they have. This is why I am personally happy with the team and with the performance.”

In a nod to the head coach, Martin Lasarte, Alexis Sanchez said that the concentration shown by the team reflects the work that they have been doing in training over the past few months during international breaks.

“We were focused for the 90 or 95 minutes that the match lasted and this reflects the effort we made in training and what we worked on.”

Chile won the game with a goal shortly after the half time break. An Alexis Sanchez corner found its way to a fellow Inter teammate, Arturo Vidal.

The 35-year-old took a shot that ended up going in off of the Paraguayan goalkeeper, which is why it was reported as an own goal.
