Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella is looking likely to start Italy’s match against Switzerland this evening despite a recent injury, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by FCInternews, the indications from the Italy camp suggest that the Sardinian midfielder has overcome the injury that saw him taken off during the Derby della Madonnina last Sunday.

That is why Roberto Mancini feels confident in playing him from the first minute in the vital World Cup qualifier match against Switzerland.

The two teams sit top of the group with the same amount of points so there is a very real chance that tonight’s winner will end up top of the group at the end of the qualification process.

Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni is also with the Italy squad but it is expected that he will be on the bench, with the coach favouring the duo of Leonardo Bonucci and Francesco Acerbi.
