The Supercoppa Italiana final is likely to be played in Saudi Arabia in the future despite this year’s final being scheduled for San Siro instead, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport today, the main reason that the Supercoppa Italiana final is taking place in Italy this season is that to play in Saudi Arabia, some Serie A fixtures would have to have been rearranged.

Inter and Juventus’ matches on the proposed weekend of January 5th would have needed to be rescheduled, as well as the match between AC Milan and AS Roma who are scheduled to play at San Siro on that date.

A share of €7.5 million would have been available to the two participating clubs if the game was played in Saudi Arabia, which is why the venue will still be in the discussion for future Supercoppa Italiana finals.
