Inter defender Lorenzo Pirola, currently on loan at Serie B club Monza, is one of three players to withdraw from the Italian U-21 squad through injury.
According to FCInterNews.it, the 19-year-old has been forced to drop out of Paolo Nicolato’s squad due to a slight injury in his right knee, sustained in a 2-0 win over Republic of Ireland last time out.
Pirola is joined by Atalanta centre-back Andrea Lovato and Cagliari’s Andrea Carboni in leaving the camp ahead of Tuesday’s clash against Romania U-21s, as the Azzurrini look to move into top spot of their European Championship qualifying group.
Lovato has suffered a groin injury, whilst fellow defender Carboni is struggling with an illness and has been allowed to return to Sardinia.
An academy graduate, Pirola has made one appearance for Inter’s first team but has spent the past two seasons on loan at Monza and will head back there for treatment.
