Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal has confirmed that Inter centre-back Stefan De Vrij will not be fit enough to feature against Norway on Tuesday.

Speaking in his press conference following a 2-2 draw against Montenegro yesterday, and as rerpoted by FCInterNews.it, the Dutch tactician revealed that a late injury in that match would rule De Vrij out.

The former Lazio defender was taken off in the 89th minute of the 2022 World Cup Qualifying match in Podgorica yesterday and will undergo tests on a suspected thigh strain.

However, with a crucial clash against Norway in Amsterdam to come on Tuesday, De Vrij will play no part and his absence was announced by ex-Ajax and Manchester United coach Van Gaal.

“De Vrij will not be available to play against Norway on Tuesday,” he confirmed.

The Netherlands sit top of Group G with one match remaining but could miss out on the World Cup should they lose to Norway and Turkey record victory over Montenegro.
