Ex-Cagliari Striker Jeda: “Inter Can Get Back Into Scudetto Race By Beating Napoli”

Former Cagliari striker Jeda believes that the Scudetto race remains open and competitive, and that Inter can get right back into contention with a win over Napoli on Sunday.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FootballNews24, the 42-year-old Brazilian gave the view that the clash with the Partenopei could represent a pivotal moment in the Serie A title race.

The Nerazzurri are seven points behind the Partenopei, but they host them next weekend in both sides’ first match back from the international break.

A win would reduce the deficit to four points, and Simone Inzaghi’s men would additionally have all the momentum especially given the highly encouraging performance against AC Milan in the derby just prior to the break.

For Jeda, even though the Rossoneri and the Partenopei look to be in a commanding position at the top of the table, the complexion of the race is in fact far more balanced and even.

“Up to now it seems quite balanced,”he stated, “for the first time I don’t see a clear favourite. Inter, Milan and Napoli seem to me to be the best-placed teams, the upcoming match between Inter and Napoli will be very important.”

He went on that “The Nerazzurri are a little behind the two at the top, but if they win the head-to-head match they could get back into the race.”

He concluded that “I don’t see a team ready to break away decisively, in my opinion it’s a very open season and anyone can still get back into it.”
