Inter held the first meeting with the entourage of midfielder Marcelo Brozovic towards the 29-year-old’s contract extension today.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the meeting took place between the Nerazzurri and the midfielder’s father Ivan and family lawyer to begin talks about extending his contract.

The Nerazzurri have been aiming to agree on a new deal with the midfielder, who is a key player at the club and whose current contract is set to expire at the end of June 2022.

Up to today no meeting has taken place, but with today’s talks the club executives have established a dialogue which they hope will progress towards an agreement during future talks.

More meetings will be needed to achieve real progress and clarify whether an agreement can be found on a new contract for the Croat, but with today’s meeting the process is now formally underway.
