Inter’s executives and the entourage of Marcelo Brozovic are still discussing a new contract for the player but are not too far away in negotiations, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera, Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio met yesterday with the entourage of the Croatian midfielder and attempted again to thrash out a deal for the player’s renewal.

There is no question that the club wants to keep the midfielder or that the player wants to remain with the Nerazzurri.

The sticking point is that the player wants a higher salary than Inter are able to offer him right now. He is asking for a salary of €7 million a season whereas the club say they will not go higher than €6 million.

The club are optimistic that a deal can be done but they are in a hurry as the current contract will expire in June 2022.
