Inter midfielder Matias Vecino is likely to remain with the club until the summer despite his desire to leave the club, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport today, the Uruguayan is fed up with the lack of playing time he has received under Simone Inzaghi and he does not see it changing any time soon.

The coach views Hakan Calhanoglu and Arturo Vidal as better options for that third midfield slot alongside Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic.

Inter do not wish to lose him in January though as they will then have a short window to find a replacement for the squad.

Should Matias Vecino depart in the summer, the primary target to replace him does appear to be Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria who will be available on a free transfer as his contract will be expiring in June 2022.
