Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Roberto De Zerbi has claimed that his team’s match against Inter next week is no more important than the next match in the Ukrainian Premier League, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by FCInternews, Roberto De Zerbi’s recent press conference saw the Champions League match against Inter become a key topic.

The two teams will face off at San Siro on Wednesday in a match that could see Inter qualify for the latter stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2011.

Before that, though, Shakhtar Donetsk have a match to play in the Ukrainian Premier League against Rukh Lviv. The former Sassuolo coach feels that game is just as important as the one against Inter.

“I don’t think the match against Rukh is less important than the one against the Nerazzurri. Before the winter break we have four very important matches in the league, we want to score 12 points because, unfortunately, 13 is impossible.

“Then we will think about the matches with Inter and Sheriff, where we will try to win both. If we get two victories, all doors will open for us.”

Shakhtar Donetsk now sit bottom of the ChampionsLeague group but they can still qualify for the Europa League by finishing third in the group.
