Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio has said that Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti should be given some of the credit for Inter’s Serie A title that they won last season, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking to Sport Mediaset, Danilo D’Ambrosio explained that the former Inter boss deserves some credit as he was part of the project that culminated in the Scudetto victory under Antonio Conte.

“With the coach there is a good relationship, regardless of where we are now. Here he certainly did well, Because we won a Scudetto, we must also give credit to him who started a winning project.”

Luciano Spalletti was replaced as Inter boss before the 2019/20 season but he helped develop many of the players who ended up being integral to the Scudetto win.

Danilo D’Ambrosio also discussed the importance of the match that Inter have this Sunday against Napoli, which is very important in relation to the title race.

“The match has a bit more difficulty than the others, given that Naples and AC Milan are doing an excellent championship. If we want to hold on to the leaders we must definitely get a result.”

Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne has been linked with a move to Inter over the past few months but Danilo D’Ambrosio feels that the player loves Napoli more than anything.

“I know that Lorenzo is fond of Naples, he shows it every time he takes the field. He is Neapolitan and cheers for Napoli, I can’t say more.”
