Former Inter coach Antonio Conte has said that when he started at Inter they were the underdogs, according to a report in the English broadcast media.

Speaking to Sky Sports in the UK, via FCInternews, the new Tottenham Hotspur coach explained that at most of his previous jobs he has joined when the team is an underdog in their division.

The examples given by Antonio Conte were Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter. He feels that his new challenge at Tottenham Hotspur is a similar one to this.

“With Juventus, Chelsea and Inter we always started as underdogs. I remember that at the beginning Juventus were out of Europe while Chelsea had finished tenth the season before me.

“At Inter it was the same thing, they hadn’t won the championship for 10 years, but I’m not just here to have fun but to build something important.”

Antonio Conte then admitted that this might be an even bigger challenge at Tottenham Hotspur than he has had before because of the level of the team and the level of the teams ahead of them in the Premier League standings.

“Maybe this is a bit bigger challenge than I had before in terms of difficulty, but I like this kind of situation.”

Antonio Conte took the role at Tottenham Hotspur after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked having been in charge for less than half of the season.
