Former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli has suggested that Inter will be out of the title race if they lose against Napoli this evening, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Radio Marte, via FCInternews, Alessandro Altobelli explained that with the ga becoming 10 points in the event of a defeat, Inter will not be able to overturn that and win a second Scudetto in a row.

“They already have a disadvantage of seven points with Napoli, if they lose they are practically cut out of the title race. For Inter, they cannot afford a false step.

“It is not an easy Napoli team to play, they have not yet lost in the league and have the best defence.”

Alessandro Altobelli also mentioned the much talked about point of the Nerazzurri’s struggles against the best teams in the league this season.

“Inter have a big problem with top-ranked teams, they have not won a direct match this season.”

Inter have drawn with Juventus, AC Milan, and Atalanta so far this season whilst also losing to Lazio. Winning these fixtures is paramount if Simone Inzaghi is to deliver a Serie A title this season.

Inter can move within four points of both Napoli and AC Milan if they do take all three points this evening because the Rossoneri were beaten by Fiorentina yesterday.
