Simone Inzaghi may choose to start with Arturo Vidal in the midfield instead of Hakan Calhanoglu against Napoli this evening, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been suggested by Tuttosport today, the Chilean midfielder is arriving at the match physically very fresh given the way his international break panned out this week.

He played only 13 minutes against Ecuador on Wednesday before he was sent off with a straight red card. That means he should be much sharper than the Turkish midfielder who featured more heavily for his team in their World Cup qualifier matches.

The inconsistency that Hakan Calhanoglu has also shown this season and in the past is also a factor in Simone Inzaghi’s choice.

In a match of this magnitude, the coach cannot afford to have one of his midfielders go completely missing for the game.

Whoever does not start will likely be involved against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.
