Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has said that he cares more about climbing up the Serie A table than his own goals and assists, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media this evening.

Speaking to Inter TV after the 3-2 win over Napoli, via FCInternews, the Turkish midfielder showed his commitment to the collective at Inter rather than his individual accolades.

“I’m happy, we’re happy. We knew it would be difficult but we played very well.

“If I score and assist I’m not interested, the important thing is to win and rise in the standings because we have always played well and then drawn or lost. Today we finally won and we are happy.”

Hakan Calhanoglu scored the penalty to bring Inter level in the first half and also played the corner that was headed in by Ivan Perisic. He was keen to stress that Inter do not give up when they fall behind.

“Yes, because we have those characteristics. We do not give up until the end even if we have had difficulties in the last ten minutes, which is normal with Napoli. The important thing is not to give up.”

The Turkish player is happy that he scored another penalty as it likely means that that will become his job in the team now.

“Yes, I’m happy. I’m confident because I know I kick them well. For now I’ve scored many, but as the coach said it’s not important who kicks but it’s important that we feel good. I scored against Milan, now at Napoli.”

Inter are back in action on Wednesday when they face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, knowing a win will see them qualify for the next round.

“Another very important match because we want to pass the group. We are already there, now we have to recover well.”
