Italian journalist Matteo Marani has suggested that a win for Inter against Napoli will also benefit Atalanta and Juventus, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media today.
As was said by Matteo Marani whilst on Sky Sport in Italy this morning, via FCInternews, the top two will both have had their lead over the chasing pack cut by three points if Simone Inzaghi’s side can win the match.
“Today there may be a shortening or an extension of the championship lead. Inter-Napoli can give the Neapolitans the opportunity to escape, even if at San Siro it is a historically difficult match, they did not win there even when they won the Scudetti.
“An Inter win would be big for the Nerazzurri but also for Atalanta and somehow for Juventus, as the Bianconeri are not so far away. To recover three points in a matchday to Napoli and AC Milan they could reinforce a path.”
This is because AC Milan have already lost this weekend, being defeated 4-3 in Florence by Fiorentina, whilst Atalanta were 5-2 winners over Spezia and Juventus won 2-0 against Lazio in Rome.
There is still a lot of work to be done by those teams if they are to really overhaul the leads of Napoli and AC Milan but an Inter win would be beneficial.
Napoli however can move 10 points ahead of Inter with a win and three points ahead of AC Milan this evening.
