Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is seriously considering a move for Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne next summer when his current deal with the Partenopei expires.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the executive appeared to hint at the possibility and highlight his extensive history of signing players on free transfers.

Marotta was asked about Insigne by Italian broadcaster DAZN before the Nerazzurri’s clash with Napoli in Serie A yesterday, and he did not deny that the 30-year-old is a player of real interest to the Nerazzurri.

Inter had reportedly been pursuing the winger during the summer before they ultimately failed to come close to an agreement with Napoli, but he is still on their radar and still looks some way before an agreeing on a renewal with his club.

Insigne’s current deal runs until the end of June 2022, and should he not agree on an extension with his club then the Nerazzurri could move for him as a free agent.

Marotta has a reputation for looking for value in the market in the form of quality players at the end of their contracts, and Insigne looks to be another player of this type who he is seriously considering making a move for.
