Inter not only made a statement of their own ambitions and quality with their win against Napoli in Serie A yesterday, but they also put a significant dent in the reputation of their opponents.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who note that the 3-2 win at the Giuseppe Meazza could have the effect of reopening the Scudetto race from a position where it had begun to look settled.

Inter’s city rivals AC Milan had suffered their first defeat of the campaign earlier in the weekend, losing to Fiorentina in their first match back from the international break.

The Nerazzurri had a chance to pull within four points of not only Napoli but also the Rossoneri with a win, and equally importantly, show that there is no team in Serie A who cannot be beaten.

Inter now sit on one defeat, the same as the Partenopei and the Rossoneri, and they will feel that more than ever they are in the hunt for the Scudetto, while even other teams in the division will see that there is no side who have the “aura of invincibility” any longer.
