Italian journalist Luigi Garlando believes that Inter are starting to show their full potential undeSimone Inzaghi, and that this has made an impression on all of Serie A.

Writing in his column published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the journalist highlighted the significance of yesterday evening’s win over Napoli in showing that the Nerazzurri are fully in the Scudetto race.

Inter knew that three points against the Partenopei would be vital given that they had the chance to go within four points of the Calabrians as well as city rivals AC Milan who had lost for the first time in the campaign the day before.

Inzaghi’s team rose to the occasion with an impressive performance which was too much for the Partenopei, even with a late surge meaning that the Nerazzurri looked far from comfortable in the closing twenty or so minutes of the match.

“Inter’s performance showed everyone what they are capable of, in terms of the quality of their play, even if the dramatic ending muddied the waters,” Garlando writes.

“In the light of the various key moments and a finale made more difficult by the substitutions, which paid of for Spalletti and backfired for Inzaghi, we can make a fair comparison of the two sides,” he goes on.

“If we let the dust settle,” he adds, “we can see clearly that Inter deserved to win, because they were superior to Napoli. Moreso than we would have expected. Not just defending and countering, not only in terms of physicality.”

Garlando concludes that “”Inter strung the strongest midfield in the league along without looking to be under any pressure. Simone Inzaghi’s fingerprint is increasingly recognizable. This was Inter’s message to Serie A.”
