Former Napoli and Inter midfielder Salvatore Bagni believes that the Nerazzurri deserved their victory in the clash between his two former sides on Sunday.

Speaking to to Italian broadcaster Radio Anch’Io Lo Sport, the former midfielder gave his assessment of the head-to-head clash over the weekend and admitted that the scoreline reflected Inter’s dominance.

Bagni remains a Napoli fan despite having played for both teams involved in Sunday’s match for a number of seasons, but he is happy to acknowledge that the Nerazzurri looked to have been the stronger side on the evening.

The Nerazzurri’s display was dominant in possession and they managed to largely restrict the Partenopei from creating much or getting a real grip on the game at least up until the closing stages when they looked resurgent and searched for a late equalizer.

Bagni acknowledged that the Partenopei had not been able to cope with Inter’s strategy, stating that “As a Napoli fan I can say that they took away all of our possession. In the first 65 minutes Inter deserved their win, they played at a very high tempo, with quality, and they made life difficult for us.”
