Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni believes that Inter’s performance in their 3-2 win over Napoli on Sunday was totally dominant for long stretches of the match.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Punto Nuovo, the journalist gave his appraisal of the dynamic of the match, and suggested that the Nerazurri had done more than enough to merit the positive result.

Inter and Napoli each understood well the significance of the clash at the San Siro over the weekend, and both looked to play at a high tempo and bring their best qualities to an encounter which could well come to have Scudetto implications.

In the end, it was the Nerazzurri who came out on top, edging a five-goal thriller and looking far more comfortable in imposing their game despite the Partenopei’s good early pressure and the push that they made in the closing stages of the match in search of an equalizer.

Zazzaroni believes that “The Neapolitans got off to a great start, then Inter delivered a staggering performance over the next sixty minutes.”

“It is too easy to speak with hindsight,” he went on, “but after Zielinski’s goal, Spalletti probably could have thought of lowering the defensive line and not allowing Inter to counterattack.”
