Ex-Inter boss Antonio Conte may feel he was too hasty in leaving Inter in the summer when the financial issues became apparent, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been hypothesised by La Repubblica today, the Italian coach considered this Inter team without a couple of star performers to be beneath his level and he chose to leave the club.

Having just won the Scudetto, it was made clear to Antonio Conte by Suning that some key players would need to be sold in order to help balance the books, as well as reduce the squad wage budget.

Antonio Conte felt he could not work effectively in this situation and chose to leave the club and was replaced by Simone Inzaghi.

The ex-Lazio coach has now come in and taken Inter to the latter stages of the Champions League for the first time in a decade despite not having Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi.
