Inter managed to win their third Champions League match in a row for the first time since the 2010/11 season under Jose Mourinho, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been highlighted by Corriere della Sera, it was a night of moving on from the past in San Siro on Wednesday as Inter qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time in ten years.

It is an achievement that Simone Inzaghi can take immense pride in as Roberto Mancini, Luciano Spalletti, and Antonio Conte all could not make it happen for the Nerazzurri.

The other record that was broken in the 2-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk was a personal one for Edin Dzeko, who having scored both of the goals on Wednesday, now has 50 goals in European competition.

Inter will receive around €20 million for their progression to the latter stages of the Champions League.
