Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has been heavily praised for taking Inter to the latter stages of the Champions League for the first time in a decade, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As was handed out by Corriere dello Sport in their ratings after the 2-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk, Simone Inzaghi was given an 8 out of 10 rating.

This was for succeeding where those before him have failed. Roberto Mancini, Luciano Spalletti, and Antonio Conte all failed to take Inter this far in the Champions League but the former Lazio coach has managed it in his first season in charge.

The players who were given the highest ratings were Ivan Perisic and Edin Dzeko as they were a danger to the Shakhtar Donetsk defence throughout the match and the Bosnian striker scored the two important goals for Inter.

It remains to be seen if Inter can finish top of their group.
