Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram was not distracted with transfer rumours linking him with Inter during the summer.

Speaking to German news outlet GladbachLive.de, the Frenchman explained that he was not overly aware of the reported pursuit of his signature by the Nerazzurri during the later parts of the window.

Thuram had emerged as a serious target for the Nerazzurri as they searched for attacking players to bolster their forward options following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, according to numerous reports.

The club had reportedly been in fairly advanced talks with Gladbach on the terms of a move for the 24-year-old, but in the end they moved onto other targets with a knee injury thought to have played a role in their decision to instead move for Lazio’s Joaquin Correa.

However, Thuram himself has stated that the supposed chase for his signature by the Nerazzurri was not something that he noticed at the time.

“There were supposed to have been rumours?” he responded when asked about summer links to Inter, going on that “I didn’t notice anything about that.”
