Inter defender Federico Dimarco is not underestimating the quality of Venezia ahead of the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match against them.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the clash, the 24-year-old stated his ambition to cap off important results against Napoli in Serie A and Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League with another important win at a tough away stadium.

Dimarco comes into the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven on the left side of a back three, and he will hope that he can take his chance to impress as his team go in search of three points to put pressure on leaders Napoli and AC Milan.

The win against the Partenopei last weekend was vital to establishing a strong foothold in the table and gaining ground on the leaders, while the win over Shakhtar in midweek also allowed the team to secure qualification to the knockouts and focus on the league.

However, the team will not become complacent, and are aiming for another strong performance to ensure another three points.

“We certainly expect a difficult match,” Dimarco stated, “especially looking at the big results that they got against Fiorentina and Roma. We have to face this match at our best”

He added that “We got a big lift from the last matches, against both Napoli and Shakhtar which were two very important wins that we knew we needed.”

“We must end this week with a win against Venezia,” the defender concluded. “Everyone in the squad is important, whether you play or don’t play. The strength of the group is what leads us to achieve great results.”
