Former Inter striker Giampaolo Pazzini was impressed by the manner of the Nerazzurri’s win over Venezia in Serie A yesterday evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, the 37-year-old hailed Inter’s approach to the match in which they managed to dominate and control the game even without really playing at a high tempo.

The Nerazzurri will have known that the match against Venezia would not be easy even though their opponents were a newly-promoted side sitting in the bottom half of the table.

The Venetians had gotten results against the likes of Roma, Fiorentina, and Bologna already in the campaign, and would not be afraid to try and impose their game.

In the end, the Nerazzurri did not allow their opposition to create much danger throughout the ninety minutes, carefully going about their business and happy to settle for three points via a slender advantage at least until a late penalty put it out of sight.

Pazzini noticed this, stating that “I liked Inter’s patience and maturity. It was an important opportunity to put pressure on Milan and Napoli, and the Nerazzurri managed to bring it home.”

“The advantage of playing first is that, if you win, you put pressure on the others,” he explained. “A victory that is priceless for Inter.”

The former striker also singled out one Nerazzuri player in particular for praise, stating that “Brozovic is irreplaceable for this Inter, the only player like that in this squad. There is no deputy for him.”
