Inter are looking to wrap up the summer signing of a left-sided player to shore up their wing-back options as early as January, according to Italian agent Sabatino Durante.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.it, the agent claimed that the club are hoping to get the deal done to beat other teams to player, though he did not name the specific player.

Inter could part ways with Ivan Perisic in the summer, with the Croat’s current deal set to expire at the end of June 2022 and no agreement on an extension having yet arrived.

Should the 32-year-old be on his way, this would leave only Federico Dimarco as a left-sided wing-back option and the club will want to make sure that they can bring in a further replacement in the position.

A number of players have been linked as potential targets, and Durante does not specify who the club are working towards signing, but he has stated that they are actively at work to get the agreement all wrapped up to bring the player in next summer.

“Inter are trying to get the signing done ahead of other teams,” the agent explained. “They want to close on the agreement in January and then sign him in the summer. I cannot name the player, only the position: left-back.”
