Legendary former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta believes that Inter’s win over Venezia on Saturday showed that they are a team at the top of their game.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri legend gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s performance to comfortably dispatch the newly-promoted side.

Inter went into Saturday’s away match in Venice knowing that their opponents were no pushovers despite having only come up from Serie B last season, with Paolo Zanetti’s team having impressed to get results against the likes of Roma, Fiorentina, and Bologna already.

However, the Nerazzurri looked clearly superior to their opponents for virtually the entirety of the ninety minutes.

Simone Inzaghi’s men not only had more of the ball and restricted their opposition from creating much danger, but they also managed to be prolific in attack without really raising the tempo as they often can.

Costacurta noticed this, stating that “Inter took 27 shots against Venezia, they controlled the match. Winning away games is never easy in Italy, but Inter are in very positive form, you can see it in how they play.”
