Inter defender Stefan de Vrij is aiming to make his return from injury next weekend during the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Roma.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Dutchman is expected to be fully fit in time for the match against the Giallorossi.

De Vrij has missed the past few matches with his club after picking up a muscle injury while on international duty with the Dutch national side over the break.

The 29-year-old is still set to be ruled out of Wednesday’s Serie A fixture against Spezia, but he is likely to be ready to be a part of the squad for when his team travel to face the Giallorossi on Saturday.

Coach Simone Inzaghi will be glad to have the Dutchman back at his disposal, having had to rotate the backline during the past few matches in his absence.
