Inter wing-back Matteo Darmian could be out for the rest of the year with the thigh problem that he picked up during the Nerazzurri’s match against Venezia.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that thte 31-year-old will miss at least the next three matches but could also have to wait until 2022 to make his return.

Darmian had to leave the pitch during the second half of Inter’s Serie A clash with Venezia on Ssturday, with initial scans revealing that the Italian had suffered from a thigh strain.

Signs in the past two days have suggested that the muscular problem could be a muscle tear, given that Darmian has still been feeling discomfort in his thigh.

The team are preparing to play the next few matches without the Italian, who had been a regular in the starting eleven up to this point, but could have to do without him until the new year.
