Italian journalist Stefan De Grandis believes that Inter have brought them back into serious contention for the Serie A title this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, De Grandis emphasized that the Nerazzurri’s performances have been the strongest in Serie A in spite of the points deficit that they still have to make up at the top.

Inter enjoyed a strong return from the international break, beating Napoli at the San Siro before hosting Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League and then travelling to Venice to beat Venezia.

This form has been observable in terms of the points which the team has been picking up but, more than this, their performances have also been highly encouraging.

The Nerazzurri will feel that the rest of the campaign still presents a lot of football to be played, and that their quality will show through in their table position at the end of the season.

“Inter are the team that are playing the best despite the points gap,” De Grandis stated. “There was a hint that it could be a two-horse race for the Scudetto, but Inter made a great comeback in the title race.”

“Not only in terms of the points picked up, but for the quality of their plau,” he added, “the Nerazzurri play better than last year and has quality in their squad that has shown through despite the losses of Lukaku and Hakimi.”

Quite simply, I think that Inter are playing better than Napoli and Milan,” De Grandis concluded.
