Architectural design firm Populous are the likeliest candidate to be given the contract of designing the new stadium in Milan for Inter and AC Milan to play in.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are determined the press on towards the construction of the new stadium and that officially announcing Populous as the designer looks to be the next step.

Inter owners Suning are committed to the new stadium project as they feel it is a necessary aspect of the continued financial viability of their ownership at the club.

The Rossoneri are also serious about the stadium, and both clubs are pushing ahead with a project which they hope will increase revenues and modernize their infrastructure.

Populous have been the favourites for the contract to design the structure for some time with their “Cathedral” design, and an announcement of their selection should come shortly.
