Former Inter striker Nicola Ventola believes that Hakan Calhanoglu’s form for the Nerazzurri is something that the club just needed to give him time to show.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Ventola praised the Turk’s influence on the team and suggested that the club are reaping the rewards of giving the player their faith.

Calhanoglu has been a key player in the Nerazzurri’s three wins across Serie A and the Champions League since the return from the international break.

The 27-year-old had also impressed with his display against his former side AC Milan in the derby in the last match before the break.

Despite the perception that he had not always lived up to expectations with his performances in the earlier part of the campaign, the former Rossoneri midfielder is now showing exactly what he can do, and Ventola feels that this was always likely to happen.

“A month ago I said that he needed to be pampered,” he said of the midfielder, “he can be decisive even if he is not always consistent.”

“He is also the player who most resembles Eriksen since Sensi is always out,” Ventola added. “He is guiding the team by the hand, and they look very solid.”
