Legendary former Juventus defender Claudio Gentile believes that Inter are in a three-team battle for the Scudetto, and that the sides involved are all around equal in quality.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, the Bianconeri legend gave the view that the Nerazzurri are now fighting for the Serie A title along with city rivals AC Milan as well as Napoli.
The Nerazzurri have made up ground on the two teams at the top of the Serie A table, sitting one point back from the Rossoneri and four from Napoli having been seven points behind both just a couple weeks ago.
There is still a long way to go, and a number of the teams behind the trio at the top have more than enough quality that they could conceivably break into contention for the Scudetto.
However, for Gentile, it is only these three who will fight for the Italian top flight championship, and they are evenly matched.
“I think the top three are all at the same level,” he stated. “They deserve their places in the table.”
He added that “Each one is capable of a slip-up, like that of Milan, but that is part of a long season. Napoli are experiencing a positive moment of form but the season is long, there will be changes at the top.”
