Inter wing-back Matteo Darmian is set to miss the next few matches for Inter through a thigh injury, with his return expected either in the Serie A clash with Torino on December 22 or in the new year.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 31-year-old is only likely to return for the Nerazzurri’s last match before the winter break at the earliest.

Darmian went down holding his leg during the second half of Inter’s win over Venezia on Saturday, and tests revealed that the 31-year-old had suffered a thigh strain.

The problem looks to be serious enough that the wing-back will likely be out for a few weeks, with a return in the Serie A match against the Granata a possibility but likely no earlier than that.

Meanwhile, Andrea Ranocchia has also been assessed for his own thigh injury, and the 33-year-old defender is likely to be back in the squad in time to face Salernitana on December 17.
