Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni will miss the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match against Spezia this evening due to illness.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 22-year-old has gastroenteritis and will not be included in the squad for this evening’s match at the San Siro.

Bastoni had started all three matches that the Nerazzurri had played across all competitions since the return from the international break.

The defender had been expected to play in the centre of defense this evening as he had against Venezia over the the weekend, with Stefan de Vrij and Andrea Ranocchia still both out injured.

However, the 22-year-old will not even be on the bench due to having fallen ill with gastroenteritis last night, and so Danilo D’Ambrosio will start in the back three alongside Milan Skriniar and Federico Dimarco.

It remains to be seen whether Bastoni will be able to recover quickly from the illness, with Inter having matches to come in the next few days as well.
