Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio could be selected to start at right wing-back in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Roma on Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that Denzel Dumfries will start against Spezia this evening but that D’Ambrosio could take his place over the weekend if he does not impress.

Matteo Darmian’s thigh strain picked up against Venezia is set to rule him out for the next couple of weeks at least, and so Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have to make do without the regular starter on the right.

Dumfries is expected to come in for the 31-year-old this evening, with the Dutchman having been working hard in a personalized training program to adjust to Italian football.

The 25-year-old has yet to show form on a consistent basis since his summer arrival from PSV, however, and should he not take the opportunity to cement his place in the starting eleven against Spezia, then Inzaghi could turn to D’Ambrosio to play in the role against the Giallorossi.
