Lautaro Martinez was lucky not to be sent off during the match against Spezia at San Siro on Wednesday night, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport whilst reviewing the performance of the referee, it was argued that if Davide Ghersini had shown the Argentine a red card, it would not have been overturned.

Lautaro Martinez was given a yellow card by the referee at the end of the first half against Spezia for his altercation with Martin Erlic, the Spezia defender.

The referee did get the decision to award Inter a penalty in the second half correct according to Corriere dello Sport, as the defender’s arm was well away from his body when it blocked Lautaro Martinez’s shot.

It was the Argentine striker who scored the penalty which led to Inter securing the three points and gaining on Napoli.
