Inter are not hopeful that they will have Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij available for the match against AS Roma on Saturday evening, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, Inter have been aiming to have Stefan de Vrij fit again specifically for the match against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma but the progress made this week has not been as promising as was initially expected.

The club does not want to inflame his injury and will instead focus on recovering him for the match against Real Madrid next week.

This is even more of a problem given Matteo Darmian is also out of contention with an injury and Alessandro Bastoni has gastroenteritis and missed the Spezia match. He may recover in time.

Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal also appeared to be in pain at the end of the 2-0 win over Spezia thanks to a blow to the foot.
