Inter are getting close to agreeing on a contract extension with key midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Di Marzio outlined the situation as being that the Croat is moving in the direction of agreeing on a new deal with the Nerazzurri.

Reaching an agreement with Brozovic on a new deal has been a major priority for the Nerazzurri given that the 29-year-old’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June 2022.

Keeping the player on past next summer is vital for the team given his importance in central areas, and in recent weeks the talks have been moving along.

Di Marzio’s understanding is that things are trending towards and agreement between the parties, and that the player is more likely to agree on a renewal than some other Serie A players in the last seasons of their deals.

“Brozovic is moving towards saying yes, Kessie is closer to saying no at this point I would say,” he explained.

“Insigne and Napoli are like the husband and wife who seem to want to divorce but neither of them will go to the lawyer to ask for separation,” he added.

“The aspect of love for the shirt and a sense of belonging can change the situation,” he said of the Napoli captain, and clarified that “Of the three the situation that has progressed the most is Brozovic.”
